So i finally got my xmas present opened and im a little excited to say the least.Sad eh!

Guy on here has said i could get in touch before i tackle it but i dont want to harrass him on xmas day!

Anyway my kit!

1 x  DAS-6 PRO polisher
2 x Menzerna Compounding Pads (5")
2 x Menzerna Polishing Pads (5")
2 x Menzerna Finishing Pads (5")
1 x 250ml - Menzerna Power Gloss (S500) Cut 5.0 Gloss 1.0
1 x 250ml - Menzerna Intensive Polish (P085RD 3.02) Cut 3.5 Gloss 3.0
1 x 250ml - Menzerna Power Finish (PO106FA) Cut 2.5 Gloss 5.0
1 x 250ml - Menzerna Finish Finish (PO85RD) Cut 1 Gloss 5.0
1 x 5" Backing plate, 6" backing plate, wrench and D-Handle, Canvas Carry Case
1 x Poorboys black hole
1 x Sonus Super fine clay(for my mk3)
1x  Dodojuice supernatural medium clay(for her mk4)
1 x Dodojuice Born Slippy Luuuube!
1  x Collinite 476s(for winter protection)

Various Cloths Eurow towels etc

Anyway her mk4 Golf has more swirl marks than i care to mention and i will be tackling this 1st,ive done various searches but cant weigh up which pad to use with which polish?

Also the mk3 is fresh as a daisy with not a swirl mark in sight on a 6 month old spray job so i will be using a fine clay on this and then hitting it with whatever polish/pad combo you recommend and then hit it with some black hole,a good sealant and wax.

It's just the polishing/pad combo im concerned about.I do have a wing off my mk3 that has original paint on that im thinking maybe i should wash, medium clay then tackle with a pad/polish?

Also what is the best/safest for paint way to remove the current wax on the car ready for the correction or polishing stage.

Thanks lads.

if the mk3 is swirl free is there any need to machine polish ?

pads to polish is just whatever best suits you obviously no point putting a heavy abrasive polish with a fine pad but you get the idea..

Well i thought i would machine polish the mk3 as you use less product and i thought the overall finish was better?I wanted to apply the polish and black hole with im guessing a 5" finishing pad?

Once ive corrected her mk4 i want the machine polisher to polish the cars every 3 months or so or in the run up to a show etc.

I got no desctructions with the kit itself so not sure which pad is for cutting and which is for final finish?

should only need to machine polish a car twice a year if the paintwork is looked after which your mk3's is.. I personally just dont see when you have 'mint swirl free paintwork' what your going to achieve from polishing why not just maybe a small polish by hand, seal and a good wax to enhance rather than take paint off ??

your mrs mk4 i dont know what condition that is it so cant comment

I must have it round my neck then :undecided:
I was under the impression that if i was to apply my polishes by machine rather than by hand i would achieve a better finish?I normally use megs 205 on the mk3 so i was thinking about applying this with the machine as it is a super fine polish, then obviously the sealant and wax.

As for her mk4 it has had 9 years of going through the car wash so it's pretty rough tbh so i was going to start on a medium grade pad and polish and see what results i get,but i dont know which pad is medium or the polish for that matter.

Ah right, thing is it was all done by hand before and it currently has dodojuice supernatural wax on it and i would like to use the Collinite 476s as a more hard wearing winter wax.Even if it is only a tiny improvement,im that anal about stuff that i would be happy that it is the best it can look.Daft i know but hey ho!

Black hole is sh!te too mate

wouldn't use it on swirl free paint

wouldn't machine polish unless i was getting rid of scratches or swirls

and i wouldn't clay it either unless it needs it, but I know u hardly use that mk 3 and its 6 month old paint so it shouldn't even need clay

all that car should need is something like Jetseal 109 and then a a few coats of good wax all done by hand

anything more and your just gonna encourage swirls

Lol i know your a firm hater of Black hole mate  just been reading this actually http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=237184

Your right in thinking the car doesnt get used, infact its not been on the road since it got sprayed  regarding claying i was just going on what the pro detailing lads have said to me as it is out in the weather and they said im better off giving it a clay before i reapply the wax etc.Thats why i got the sonus extra fine stuff as i doubt there is much on it.

I have Jetseal in my kit after you advised it a few months ago so i will be putting that on before the Collinite.

Like i say i will be correcting the paint on her mk4 1st then once ive had a practice im dying to attack Potter with my new kit,but if people dont think its worth it then im a bit gutted really as it's all i wanted it for long term

no way would i clay mate

i have Black hole here.. its baba, i tried it on my old paint, and since tried it on my new paint and its still crap

I have machined my car coz i wanted it super flat    but all i do now is jet seal and purple haze....  job done

its all it needs.. no point making hard work of something

more you touch the paint, the more risk of damage
