Alternator Workshop

Hey guys, just got a message on my display saying 'Alternator Workshop' there is a whining noise from under the bonnet that's only just started!!! Not the best time for it to appear when all the shops will be closing for xmas  :rolleyes:
Will i need a new one or is there a bearing or something i could replace??
Its a 02 mk4 1.9 TDi 130

Check the fuse and fuse box on top of the battery.......

Thanks for the link mate  :smiley: Just checked that rich, everything seems ok! I take it if one of them fuses has blown it would be broken like a small fuse?

It's the metal one which blows test the voltage that alternator is producing With a multimeter

Sorted now, i bought a new alternator from GSF  :smiley:

i had this warning a couple of months ago and nothing has broke yet checked voltage to alternator and it was fine

Voltage to alternator maybe ok on exciter wire but what about voltage it's producing?
