How much would you pay?

I've been looking but can't find a decent answer or anything like it on eBay.

Now there's a 1.6 MK4 with 154K miles. The owner says the headgasket has gone. I know it hasn't and it only needs a set of HT leads. (This ISN'T the one I serviced the other day  ). However the owner is adament as his dad said his headgasket was gone which is making it misfire. No oil or water leaks or anything. 

Anyway, £250.

It has paint FLAKING off the drivers door. Would probably make it look good though, few scuffs but would make it look a decent car before selling anyway.

What would you pay for it? As said I'd do a bit of paintwork but what would you pay for an average to good condition (after work) 1.6 that drives lovely with 154k?

Just wondering whether to go for it with a mate or not.
