transmitting HDMI via wireless?
« on: 21 December 2011, 10:00 »
I got the xbox in one room, but when the misse's or the little one is watching telly I can't use it, and moving the xbox back and fourth between two telly's is a pain as one telly is superior to the other.

So I was wondering is there a means of transmitting HDMI via wireless connection of some sort, there's plenty solutions for satelite and aerials. That way I could just pop out the HDMI connector and plug it in to wireless transmitter.

The controller is able to still communicate with the xbox at the desired distance.

Off course, otherwise I wouldn't ask. Kept coming up with wireless HDMI technology being developed by Hitachi or something that is still i development from 2010... which is completely different to linking a HDMI cable into a transmitter, tried various search's with no luck.

your best bet is looking into a cat5 balan. Its a little more costly but its far more reliable than wireless.

Had a look most the amazon ones exceed the price of a second xbox or are out of stock, the ones that are cheaper are designed to beam your pc's dektop to tv wirelessly then connect by HDMI.

I think my googling sucks :(

I have seen a few AV transmitters, but the specifications are so vague, doesn't explain if it supports HDMI etc, such as:

weareelectricals.com/products/THOMSON-VS3010-Wireless-A%7B47%7DV-Transmitter-%252b-F3Y016CP3LG-HDMI-Cable-%252d-3-m

and

What's your views?

If it's only for the odd occasion, why not just go for a non-hd video sender, you can get those anywhere?

Or suck it up and spend time with your missus and little one

I think that the bandwidth required for HD video is very high, so the wireless signal needs to be very clear for a good picture.
Cat5 Baluns are the best option really, much more reliable than wireless and you won't have problems with interferrence.

Might get them cheaper elsewhere if ya l@@k, these are cheaper  than a 2nd xbox and a CAT5 cable is cheap enough.
