The difference between 195 & 205 on a mk3 speedo is negligible. 195's are cheaper and look better, plus I found mine drove better on them.

Some Gti's were fitted with 195s from the factory. It's an all round better choice

I don't fancy my speedo being out even if it is only slightly

alloys of that sort of design should always have tyres that are thinner to enfasize there design. and smaller profiles too :)

so 195/ 45 or less is what you want. cheaper tyres too as said above

as for the speedo, what where the original size alloys and tyres ?

It'll be out anyway, check it against a sat nav. 195/45/15 is a standard tyre size & will not affect the speedo.

does it have huge chunky profile tyres on it ? if not then anything you put on will put it out lol, difference between 40 & 45 profile on 195s will be nothing in comparison to going from 13s to 15s

do the speedo calculator thing as suggested ( either google it or its a sticky on here somewhere) would of thought the speedo is able to be re calibrated anyway, wouldn't cost much

Check the manual for original size and do a comparison on here anything around 3% difference is OK.... http://www.alloywheels.com/Tyre_Calculator

Even changing the width changes the overall rolling size of the wheel... Like most I thought it didn't matter but it does...

I think my original tyre size was this for my 13". If so this doesn't seem so bad?
