check for a drain on the bottom of the rad or just pop bottom hose off the top up with anti-freeze after the rad has drained

on my toyota mr2 i had to use the red stuff something about the head being alley and pourous and blue stuff contains chemicals that damage the head, so i had to use the red stuff which is known as for life and is indeed supposed to last a fairly long time but is slightly more expensive, so i dont know if the golf has the same sort of set up, i have bright pink stuff in mine when i bought it which pleased me as something less to do for winter months and looks strong in colour and hardly diluted so lots of cold protection, thing people forget also is antifreeze also helps keep the car cool in the summer so a job well worth keeping on top of, gone are the good old days of popping a thermostat out in the summer to stop overheating, showing my age now i think time to shut up.
