just noticed the spark plugs i bought have a 0.9mm gap whereas the AGU ones have a 0.8mm gap, would this matter at all, im assuming it would

If the AGU says 0.8mm, then they need to be 0.8mm unless you have lots of power and can experiment with different gaps.

, the 0.1mm difference wouldnt damage the engine in anyway could it

i could only see it ruening the plugs, however if i was in your position ide have gone and changed the plugs for ones with the correct gap

Why not regap them?
Surely it would put extra strain on the coilpacks having to spark a larger gap?
