Rear wiper delete
« on: 16 December 2011, 09:25 »
has anyone removed the rear wiper on their golf and fitted a blanking plug. i saw these gecleant ones made from glass to sit flush in the window.

some say they don't fit good and others say they're great

anyone got any experience with these?

what sealant did you use? could you see it thru the tinted glass on the other side? does it leave a 'shadow' where its applied?

cheers

I've seen this talked about a few times on another forum if you search.

Rear Wiper delete-glass plug- complete smooth

Personally I wouldn't remove a feature I use quite a bit whats the point purely cosmetic?

I never use mine. They just make a mess on the back window. My cars not a daily driver so wouldn't use it in bad weather.

Looks much cleaner without it fitted

With the heavy wiper motor removed from the tailgate, just be carefull that it doesn't crack you under the chin when it flies up when you open it.

IIRC Demon Tweaks sell them at £25 a pop and you just tell them the size you want. Made from glass too. Just fix them in with a good sealant to make doubly sure.

But like he said, if it doesn't go out in the rain, it doesn't really matter.

The only time either the front or rear wipers on my Mk2 got used this year was during the MOT test.
