Slightly off topic - Nissan Navara's
« on: 13 December 2011, 20:16 »
Ok, best not to ask why, but Mrs Macca want's to buy a Navara.

Does anyone have any experience of them? Is the 4x4 any good? Do they break down and die a lot? What kind of milage can they manage if looked after?

Looking at a 2004, old shape.

Thanks :)

Brother in law loves them and wants another, he had one in SA where it was actually needed on the dirt tracks travelling between construction sites.

Tell her to a Beetle/Mini/MX5 is perfect for her

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

Hmm...Someone on here has one as a "company car"  *cough

This came up in a previous company car / business owner thread I can't lay my hands on.

If it's one of this type, then they're horrid to drive - really bouncy and nasty on the road.

If one of these, did over 1000 miles in it this summer and it's really quite a pleasant place to be. My father-in-law has had both and had no issues with reliability on either.

The one we've spotted is an old shape, but the price seems ok. Going to give it a test drive tomorrow and see what it's like, but wanted to see if anyone had any real world experience.

The garage mentioned there had been a mod done to it on the engine to stop a problem, I wonder if it was crank related?

Could have been. That said, it could have been mapped.

Be prepared for the thing to drive like a badly set-up truck. That's what it is, but the new ones are miles better.
