if a dealer offers a minimum part ex of £3k against a new car, can my dad use my car to part ex in for a new one for himself? mine is reg to me and the brand spanker will be reg to him??

the idea is i get his old car out of the deal.

anyone know if this is possible?

I thought your car was currently not roadworthy?

Its not Dom, its in the garage at the moment being checked over, the idea is if it doesnt cost too much to repair i'll get it sorted and trade it in for my dad.

if its gonna cost a fair bit i'll break what i can from it and scrap the rest and buy a cheap run around for work.

we get this quite a lot where i work, all you need to do is write and sign a letter stating that you are the owner of the vehicle and that you give your father permission to trade it in

nice one, so it is possible  where do you work? is it common for all dealers to do this?

i work for fords of winsford, we're a car supermarket, i would have thought any dealer should do this as many people trade their husband/wife's car against a new one, even though its not in there name

Just remember that dealerships are desperate to sell new cars!

What car is he getting? There are lots of heavily discounted new cars out there, so you could probably get £3000 off the list price of a new one without having to px anything.

Go onto http://www.drivethedeal.com/ and see what you can get the car he's after for.

Was this of no help then?
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

It should be, drive the deal is always excellent to use when bargaining, print off the details of the car you're after an take it along. when they say theyve put their best deal on the table, whip it out!
