Changing taxation class (warning french car inside)

Hi chaps, tried looking online but the direct.gov website isnt very clear.

I have just blown my golf up and work 300 mmiles away so bought myself a little clio eco warrior to see me through the winter till i can fix the golf.

Got it home and looked through all the papers and it would appear that it used to be clio VAN. 

But it is most deffiently a car, i have checked all the vin and engine numbers, it has all seatbelts and everything is hunky dory, apart from it says £200 on the tax disc. It should only be £30. 

So do i just fill out the form for changing tax class (v70??) and come away smiling when i re-tax at £30? 

Anybody of you clever lot know??

Yes thats exactly what you do buddy, simple as that. I know because my sister did it with her pug 106 that used to be a van!

My understanding is that changing taxation classes is as good as impossible, you may want to check your insurance too.

You will also need to provide proof to DVLA its been changed from a van to a car, e.g lots of photos of the inside & exterior, pics of chassis number & possibly a letter of conformation from a garage,

I will be changing the class of my recovery truck from flat bed lorry to Recovery once my V5 comes back

Right well ive rang the DVLA, and they said that it is not a problem to change the taxation class, just need to fill in section 7 of your v5c with the changes you have done. They may then ask you to produce your vehicle for inspection at the nearest DVLA local office.

However, Renault    decided not to produce a CO2 emissions booklet for the clio van, so on these grounds the taxation class has to remain as a Light Goods Vehicle, £200 a year.

Yet the car version is only £30 a year. 

But the nice lady said as long as the modifications are listed and the dvla is aware and they appear on the logbook, then crack on.
