Dunno, not investigated tbh. Probably the original alarm that was disconnected a long time ago........
Saying that, the golf had 2 horns too, can't remember what the second one is for, yours probs has two as well though.

Oh and Jamie, stop nagging! Bloke has had both laptops for over a week now! Was supposed to be picking them up Monday but he has been calling in sick every day this week!

There you go Mr Wherry, sig changed!
Proper sh!t myself today! Gave one of the lads a lift to his car after work (I have a pass for right outside work), and thought I'd give him a show off the lights of my arse end! Engine was nice and warm, oil and water temps up above 90, happy to give it some beans I thought. So lights turn green, onto a 50 mph road so no worries about speeding etc, I fly off, winds right up to the limiter, clutch in, shift up to second, plant foot, booom, massive cloud of blue smoke billows out the back end! proper thick and sh!t loads of it, "Oh f**k" was said multiple times, followed by "shes gonna go mental", then "I must look a right cnut now after trying to show off". Pulled over on the shoulder, and workmate pulls in a minute later. He had to stay well behind as apparently he couldnt even see the road in front of him through the smoke! Horrible oily smell, although smoke now starts to die down a bit. Cut engine, pull plugs and check oil. All look good, although lightbulb moment as I had put a bit too much oil in last week and kept meaning to drain it. All looked well, and after a couple of starts and stops, smoke appears to be thinning. So go on my not so merry way, and thankfully that was the end of it. Had a good drive later this afternoon, no smoke at all now, no loss of power, and no funny noises. I may have got away with that one lightly, but will deffo think twice about hitting the limiter from now on!

Anyway, picked up the zaust coupler today, still waiting on the alternator though.

Weather was decent at the w.end, so between doing decorating jobs around the house, managed to get the front end detailed. Bonnet is too far gone tbh, but wings came up well so I'm happy with them. Will have another go at the w.end if weather holds again. Decorating now doesnt have to be done asap, as my promotion course has been cancelled, due to the fact I now face a medical board to be released from the service around the same time. Bricking it tbh, so really need to pull my finger out and look at what I wanna do, and apply for courses etc........

I've only had it about a month, and she keeps whinging at me to sell it cos "we need a reliable family car". Problem is, her mum, my mum, my sister, brother, her friends etc keep telling me I have a crap unreliable car! Its not helping, and I'm getting a bit pissed off with em cos they know nothing about cars, but at the same time, the car is doing me no favours by fighting my corner! She's at work until 8am tomorrow (she works 24hr shifts as a support worker) so I'm keeping it quiet and not telling her! As said though, not smoking any more so think I got away with it this time. Thought I'd blown a ring or something at first, so was sh!tting myself!

Cambelt 4 year and 40k coming up late summer. Known my luck it will go that little bit early!

Either that or oil pump, just to piss me off cos I couldn't get the sump off to check it out! Still a little wherry

though, so takin it easy ATM and getting a compression test done tomorrow for peace of mind. No indications that there could be a problem, but Im just panicking a bit now cos so much seems to be going wrong. Alternator arrived today too so will get it cleaned up and fitted at the w.end.

Alternator on, but charging the battery first as its pretty low ATM. Polished it up a little, but was doing by hand so got fed up and couldn't be arsed to do it properly!

also went round with the rotary yesterday. Still got bumpers and roof to do, but wow! What a difference! Will probs need to do the drivers side again, as my pad has pretty much had it. Did it with just some megs ultimate compound, and a green 3m compound pad. May do the front end again too, as I did that about a week ago with a yellow polishing pad so its not quite as good. Once I've actually finished the whole car, I'll go round with the blue finishing pad. That's not gonna happen til after the Swdubs meet next Sunday though so just a rough cut for now. I do have some pics, but ain't picking computers up til Wednesday so will upload em then.

Got a few pics now as the laptop is back. Finished at 10 today, so came straight home and cracked on.
First up, was the exhaust. Its been blowing since I got the car, but the last couple of weeks has been getting worse. Got a new coupler last week, as thats what I thought the problem was (was hard to see through all the gun gum thrown all over it!). This is the remains of what was taken off.

Turns out it just needed sealing properly between the flexi, and the mid section, and a new clamp putting on. Did that, and let it set for a few hours, before running the car at idle a short while ago. Soooo quieter now, although there is a bit of resonance at about 1500 rpm so it knocks on the tunnel heatshield now!

Oh well, will sort that another time!
In between, I fitted some new battery terminals as the old ones had had it, no pics, and its not very exciting anyway. I fitted the new alternator at the w.end, and that is now charging slightly better, although there is an earth too, which hopefully when I get round to finding it, will restore the whole electrical system to something approaching normal running. Was also a break in the weather this afternoon, so cracked on with the rotary. Did both bumpers, and they are now looking much better, but the cutting pad is well and truly fecked now so got fed up and polished it. Looking pretty good from certain angles, although paintwork still needs some attention, and hopefully will get some in the not to distant future. A few shots of how it is now.
