ABF into MKII - A few questions

Hello people after some advice on swapping an ABF into a K-JET MKII 8v.

1) Which donor car is best to pick up? MKIII GTI or one of the Seats with an ABF?

2) From said donor car does anyone have a list of what I would need to keep and what I can junk/ebay? (Not going wide track but want to run Digi III management to start off with)

Just to add, initially keeping the 8v box but would want to hang onto all the bits required to swap to a cable shift box at a later date.

Cordoba as it has the right length shafts on the 'box and is cable clutch.

Toledo as the loom is most like a Golf2 and it has the full cable clutch set up. 

Golf3 because it has a VW badge on the inlet manifold (and I know you're a tart).

I'd keep all the wiring and everything sitting on the subframe, pretty much.  As well as that I'd hold on to the exhaust off whatever it is you get.

The main thing is to get a whole car and use everything from that car, to avoid any PITA year-to-year, model-to-model differences.

Nick, are you likely to open up an 02a and change the final drive? If not stick with your rod change. Otherwise you won't be much faster than you are currently! Its all about the ratios

That's what I was thinking. Stick with rod change until I go TB's, Man in Shed head and MS.

This http://www.clubgti.com/forum/showthread.php?t=133418 shows the way on both Kjet and Digi3. The Digi3 method looks pretty damn straightforward even if you have an early wiring loom and seems to make stock figures on the standard 8v exhaust system. Dont forget to check pistonheads as well as ebay, a mate and myself have just picked a pretty mint mk3 up for £400 off there.
