I got out of it this morning and a sizeable hole has spontaneously appeared in the offside sill, at the front, just behind the wheel-arch.  This may be the beginning of the end.... or just the beginning of the welding it up phase.

It rather confirms my view of the G3 as a rust bucket though.

On another note, it continues to deliver a steady 49-51MPG brim to brim.
