The seats aren't that bad.

Big thanks to Jay for the first modification of the week - a replacement battery from his dead Galaxy, swapped out for the tiny little (wrong) one that was in the Golf.

Should mean no more frosty morning will-it-won't-it moments!

No worries Sir, just means a perfectly decent battery doesn't go to waste. Just hope the old 'un works when I need to move the G

Just got news that a present for this is in the post from a mate.

I should probably sort out a VAG-COM cable again.

Yes, many who existed well before I became active on Golfgti   This guy's one of them.

TBH I don't think there are any faults on it at the moment.  No lights, drive cleanly, no worries - remember it's pretty basic!

If I start mucking about with it, it's not beyond the bounds of probability that I'll throw it into limp-home mode.  This is not something I want to experience when trying to get to or from work and have no way of getting it out of the status.  ANy mods will be done bit by bit and they will be reversable and I will ensure I can back them off as needed if they cause an issue.

I have no friends, without this site my life is empty.  I like to Willy wave online for kicks.

Oh hang on, those aren't my lines..

Limp mode?... Isn't it like that all the time as standard?

You're actually going to mod this thing!

If you said you wanted it scanned with vagcom you should have said, provided it has an ODBII port ofc  Though my laptop battery is fooked and only lasts 20 mins max now - so would have been a quick scan

Went into London tonight and collected a set of VR6 seats for it to try and resolve the hideous seat issue:

£10 later.

Picked them up and drove about a mile down the road to a business park where I fitted them.

Then swung by a tip and dropped off the old seats.

Much more comfortable now.

No point at the moment - it's running fine.  It's when I start making mods to the engine there's a risk.
