the pulley that was attached has the following numbers-

The pully number seems to be a generic mk2/3 44t pully. As for the shaft... no idea

not had a chance to check for more numbers yet, however i have just seen a mk3 gti cam on ebay and the part number stated is
049 109 111C

the number on mine is 049 109 111B

im thinking mine could indeed be a late gti cam?

From what I can figure out, A and B go together on a DOHC and C is a single cam. This doesn't actually confirm anything, thats if its even correct but It would indicate that the cam you have is from an 8v

i read somewhere that a hydraulic cam base circle should measure 34mm. not sure if that applies to gti or standard though?
not sure exactly what the cam base circle is meant to be. i measured it up today and found that the lobes measure 34mm accross the width.
whats reckon?
im thinking of fitting it anyway and seeing what happens? once ive got the 2 cams side by side i should be able to see if one is noticably different?
