Ive just done a test quote with admiral.

For me and the wife fully comp its 623.70

For me only its                            703

seems daft to me but if its cheaper with her on then thats the way i will do it. Im not gonna tell her cos i dont want her driving the golf!

After doing a few quotes with other companies it looks like im gonna be paying around the £620 mark this year, so i will wait and see what my renew quote is and go from there.

sucks but still pretty cheap. my girlfriend is 26 and drives a 1.0 micra (group3) and hers was £736 for tpft  last year. Unfortunatley you sit right in the middle of the most at risk bracket (18 - 25 year old male). 1 yr ncb should see you get about 30% off next time, plus a bit for more experience and age.

Try Liverpool Victoria. Yep, they seem to specialise in the over 70's but they beat any other quote my wife could get on the 'Dub...... Was much cheaper than putting it on as a second car on my policy, even with my 7yrs NCD etc, etc. Came in at £420 fully comp inc business use, and she only has 3 yrs NCD. Bargain.

BTW- Mate of mine used to be a broker, and advised very strongly against the likes of Elephant. Steer very clear of their "bonus accelerator" offer, and even their full policies are not as watertight as they should be, allegedly......

im with elephant never had any bother up for renewal in a month tho so will shop around......

I get the impression that experiences vary.  Elephant and Diamond are the same company (I think) and my wife had all sorts of problems with the latter.  Could also be a bit of a postcode lottery?  Age makes such a difference.  At 22 Admiral was unbeatable (same broker mate couldn't get to within £70 of their quote) yet now I'm over 30 esure are tops.  Was with Direct line inbetween.  YOu can tell I'm into long term brand loyalty.....!

I was going to go with admiral but they wanted to add £150 for 2 non fault claims in 3 years. I'm gonna stick with privilege again (7th year) cos they don't load for accidents that aren't your fault and they're pretty reasonable if you need to claim. I live right  in Sheffield city centre and park on the road, got cat 2, am 33 and have 7 yrs ncb. £407 fully comp (protected) on an 8v 95.

well i'm with HIC who some people seem to think are pretty bad whenit comes to claims, but they offer like for like replacement on parts and with all my mods listed and as long as i don't go over 10k a year its £320 for me, 28, no points, however many no-claims since i was 17 (there is a limit right?) parked on the road with a cat1 alarm imobiliser
team grumpy....... its a way of life, not a forum post
