What age is it ?       If its the later mk2 , and I remember correctly , if the rev counter and the warning lights and I think the MAF don't work it could well be the printed circuit in the dash which comes with the rev counter in one unit  complete ( If my memory is correct ) fairly common on the later mk2 golf gtis  .

Hi,
I've got exactly the same problem on my 1990 8V GTi...

Previous owner claimed that "sometimes" it would work, sometimes not, the car runs fine otherwise -
just no tacho, MFA or oil pressure light...

Which fuse needs to be removed to reset and what is it rated at, please?

thanks in advance,
J. :)

Unfortunately , from what you're describing I think you need to replace the printed circuit which includes the tacho to cure this fault .
I have changed a few on the later mk2 GTIs and they had exactly the same symptoms as yours.
I honestly don't think reseting will cure this problem

I have the same problem. I pulled the fuse out but that didn't work. Do you have to leave it out for a certain time? I think I will have to replace the tach part of the dash. Does anyone know a site with a decent FAQ step by step guide on how to do the dash?? I think this is quite a common problem.
