Sky News reported it as 2m worth of scrap metal...

But then their first report about the HSBC fine quoted it as 10bn

"An unidentified male eyewitness told the TBS network: "A group of cars was doing 140-160 kilometres (85-100 miles) per hour. One of them spun and they all ended up in this great mess.""

what he had a speedgun?

they where doing blistering speeds then

'the speed limit on the stretch of road is 50 mph'  :nerd:

Also it was hammering it down with rain at the time of the crash

still not that fast though is it really

Would you have preferred it if a few people had died? Perhaps a man and his kid could have been crushed in the prius after been rear ended by 8 supercars doing over 150mph. A few cars perhaps flipping into and over the central reservation and plowing into traffic head on and people having to drag mangled corpses from burning wreckages?

Would this be more preferable as an end result of this news story?

No its not fast but when you crash at that speed it causes carnage.
Look what happened on the M5 last month, they wasnt going fast but 7 people died.
Supercar with lots of power, rear wheel drive and wet conditions at 100mph is asking for trouble
I often wonder why people never expect sarcastic comments from me - they're the only reason I speak...

I think we need to understand a super car can go as fast as it likes WHY? Because its got better brakes!
The impacts might have been less than 45MPH, even though they all could have been doing over 150MPH.
Lets see what news crops up because I don't have my CSI computers ready to measure the skids marks

doesnt matter how good the brakes are, reaction times are the thing, even at 30mph a second to react and youve covered 15 metres! so you think, 100mph is about 60 metres REACTION time.

its why theres speed limits, sorry if im being all preachy but someone walked in front of my bus last week and is in a bad way cos of it, if id been speeding he wouldnt be here

Took my post out of context mate!
All I'm saying is bigger brakes will stop you quicker with ABS chucked in the mix so the crash might not look as bad on impact, but they proberly were speeding?
Sorry to hear about your incident hope no one was hurt?

thing is, abs doesnt stop you quicker, it keeps you in control of the car but i can ctually stop my car faster without abs, my old primera i actually removed the fuse and it was a better car for it, only time i put abs on was on motorways where control is whats needed, round the town i wanted to stop quicker.

wasnt having a go mate, just putting my 2ps in.

the blokes in trauma unit at the newcastle rvi, not classed as life threatening any more. thank god. awaiting the police to take official statement but theyve already said no action will be taken against me
