The ultimate number plate???
« on: 22 September 2003, 13:24 »
Been thinking for a while about a number plate change on my 16V but the perfect one seems have been snapped up already  :(
There's a guy in the next village to me who has three mint Mk1's (Silver, Lhasa Green and Black) and a couple of 16V Mk2's. The number plate on one of his valvers is A16 VVW (A 16V VW). Is this the ultimate number plate or has anybody seen any better ones???

Unfortunately I let my perfect plate slip away a few years ago, I had an old sierra in between VW's the number plate NVV 708Y imagine my horror a few years later when it dawned on me (VW TOBY my name being toby). Anyway the car was scrapped years ago along with it my perfect plate, still kick myself to this day.

saw a good one on a bike a few years back, still makes me chuckle now - A17 EOS (ADEOS)
I've been trying all sorts of combinations but they have all been snapped up or a extortionatly pricey (A6 OLF - that was a good one)
I don't own this anymore - I just can't be arsed to change the picture

A little bit off the beaten track, but I waited over three years for mine to become available. I decided against going for a car related one, as I never keep my cars for as long as I plan to!

The day S reg private plate's were released by the dvla I was on the phone to buy S11EPS (my surname is Shepherd, have always been known as SHEPS) and with the judicial use of a small fixing bolt cover in between the two ones, I would have my name there for all to see.

Was told by the DVLA that it had been reserved by them for auction, and would not be one of the ?200 specials. My dreams of having the plate were rapidly speeding past my eyes. They couldn't give me the date of when it was to be auctioned, but put me on the mailing list that would inform me of the auctions.

Eventually it came up, and last November I became the owner of a plate I'll keep for good, regardless of what car it goes on. And because it cost ?50 shy of ?2k, I'm glad it took that long to come up - 3 years ago I couldn't have afforded to spend that on a number plate!!!  :P

i am not that bloke  :) i work in fulbourn and used to drive past that house every day. always thought about stopping and knocking on the door but never had the guts!

"A2.0 BMW" also lives at that house!

The Golf's all look mint condition but he/they don't seem to be a dealer as the same cars have been there for a long time now.

Yeah he usually has sunday lunch at my local and is normally in A20 BMW then. Definately not a dealer the cars all belong to them as I've been travelling through fulbourn all my driving life I've been admiring them for a long time now. He had the green one first, then the silver one a few years ago (I believe it has a 16V lump in it, he uses the same garage as me in cambridge so occasionally I get to have a little look round them) that looks totally mint. The black one I noticed a few weeks back and on quite a few occasions I've seen a mars red one on the drive, wouldn't be at all suprised if that was also tucked away in that large garage of theirs. Do you live in the cambridge area jv or just work in fulbourn?

there were a couple of good plates rolling round cambs (my hood too)

there was a mid engined 205(?) with OKP1G spaced OK PIG

and some geezer had a black bimmer with officially something like dfn1s but really stretched the law by blatantly spelling PEN1S, not far off either.

saw a new bmw with MU 51 CDJ (MUSIC DJ), kind of blows the idea that the new plates cant be messed with

I regret not chasing doen an old renault 11 i saw that had SHA 110 W (SHALLOW) as thats me all over.
