retro fitting A/C in a MK3
« on: 30 November 2011, 21:48 »
Hi guys got a colour concept 5Dr which does have the optional electric sunroof, but when im driving my golf i miss the a/c from my wifes leon.

I sold my last mk3 to a mate for spares and she had a/c (and ice cold) my mate has said if i wanted to fit it then come and do it and give him £50.

Is it a big job retro fitting a/c from one car to the other ? can it be done ?

I have a colour concept with sun roof and a/c, thought they all came with both.

From what I've read it's an absolute mofo to retro fit the A/C on these. I wanted it on my last mk3 and finding out what a b!tch it would be made my mind up that i'd just buy another lower mileage one with A/C as standard.

I did it on my Vectra a few years ago and even with a donor car it was major work so much needs changing.

Hi,

I think the job is for a competent guy/ mechanic to carry out. Firstly you will need all parts from the donor car such as bracket, pump, belting, the ac pipes, receiver drier and all the wiring plus wiring to the ecu as well.

Inside the car , the dash switches, ac blower, and wiring to the fuse box etc etc. That should assist you to fit into your car then.

Good luck. As for us here in Malaysia we need it everytime. Summer all year round.
