people are just too frightened to stop and help others out ?

I think this is the reason why some people won't stop for anyone or in some cases anything !
I stopped to help a lad who was broken down on the bypass, couldn’t get his car going so I said I would be happy to give him a lift ! First thing he said when he got in the car was “don’t worry I’m not a serial killerâ€

, it was about a 15 minute drive to his house and he was really grateful and quite surprised that someone was prepared to give a complete stranger a lift.
When I did my first aid training we were told of a case where someone was walking along the street when she noticed an old fella on the floor so she rushed over to help. Turned out the chap was having a heart attack and had fallen in a way that caused his airway to become blocked, she duly helped out and the bloke did survive although with some minor brain damage resulting from a degree of oxygen starvation. The family of the man who was undoubtedly saved by the passer by then attempted to sue her claiming the damage he sustained was her fault, in light of this they suggested that if we ever thought we would react in the same way and attempt to help we should get ourselves insured. The claims made by the old mans family were quite rightly dismissed but the girl who stopped to help understandably said she would never help a stranger again !
They way I look at it is this, if it was me I would like to think someone would help so I try and practice what I preach !
