Glad about the HID thing, dangerous isn't the word, some mk4's did have ECL light even on earlier models depending on which tacho it got, plus with vagcom you can run a test that lights all lights on and tests the revs and speedo upto 160mph to make sure the cluster is fully working.

Also very useful to take a picture at the needle at160mph when running a test a claim your 1.4 made it there

most cars will fail emissions test if they dont have a cat anyway.

and i read on another forum that eml light lit is a fail, ok for early mk4 owners, no eml light

oe spec projectors will be fine, self levelling so they dont dazzle, think its aimed at people who fit them in standard headlights, to$$ers

I was thinking for a DERV. I am wanting a to get a decat dp but do not want to do it if I will fail an MOT!?

dervs are fine, they dont have cats, they have particle filters, and most of them dont work anyway

Completely agree with the proposed toughening on HID kits. Where I live it's not so much boy racers who are the problem, but middle aged, estate drivers who opted for the Halfords LED strip and HID kit combo instead of just buying the Audi that they are clearly trying to emulate.

Also agree with the Range Rover/ Merc/ BMW 4x4 comments.

Oh and for the record, I just use standard bulbs in my Mk6

I was walking down the road when a corsa came past me. Obviously had some dodgy HIDS as i had to stop cuz i couldn't fcuking see!

If it happens when i am driving, i know where it parks. So i will leave a lovely note saying they need to 'remove them or i'll smash their headlights!'  Never realised how bad they were till then!

just get some black spray paint. masking tape the headlamps off, make a proper job of it, and give it a layer, bring it down to halogen levels, the corsa driver will appreciate smoked headlamps no doubt.
