So.... (part 3)
« on: 29 November 2011, 22:33 »
Ok, now my missus has just passed her test and is looking for a new car with a £600 budget - tall order!

Well, insurance companies are odd and it costs the same to insure a 1.4 corsa as a 1.0 polo - alas, I am confused.

So far it seems the corsa is the best bet, until now...

this is affordable, and bizzarley - cheap on insurance £125 per month!

So, the catch is - 5 Doors, Manual, Hatchback, Petrol, 153,000 miles, Metallic GREEN. 11 MONTHS MOT. RUNS & DRIVES VERY WELL. MOTORWAY MILES. ELECTRIC WINDOWS, SPARE KEYS.

My missus is worried about the mileage - although she'll be keeping it for 1 year, collecting her no claims then upgrading anyway.

I personally think it's the best bet if it's backed up with service.

What do you guys think?

Take it its a 1.4?
If so the gearboxes go boom for fun so watch out for that.
Apart from that usual mk4 faults :lipsrsealed:
I wouldn't be put off by mileage as long as its been serviced correctly
I often wonder why people never expect sarcastic comments from me - they're the only reason I speak...

what is it? 1.4/1.6?

as said by steve gearbox isnt storng point.

mileage ide say not too bad just check its been looked after. mines on 110k and still feels good. think rich's is on 150k? or theres one of the mk4 lads thats on something like that, a properly looked after engine will go on for a long long time.

a 1994 corsa with 90 K on it is almost all used up,

know ok mk4's with over 200k on them still going so would say is likely to have more use left in it
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

You looked at the insurance on the other cars on that JL Trade Centre site? The 306 TD is low insurance group so might be worth looking at and cheap to run being a derv.
