oh without a doubt! they just lack the mod cons and comfort, but then so do the mk3's which is why you can barely give them away

I'm looking forward to cheap mk5's in the future, the mk4 is boring as hell

So you class ABS as mod cons?
IMO that is essential safety gear in this day and age!

I haven't done the calculations, but I would surmise that a Mk2 is quite a safe car in regard to being able to stop.  Quite a bit lighter than today's cars, and has decent brakes, even without ABS.

Plus, I Haven't got to go through some stupid menu using a wheel to navigate. I just press a large and easy to reach switch.

Bought a little MK2 1.6 runabout today for £200 but I've sold it to a mate straight away for £400.

Didn't like it.

I still think I'd prefer a MK2 over a MK3 but for what it is, a run about i.e not making any changes to it or modifying it, MK3 over the MK2 and even over the MK4 after the electrical issues I had with the laat MK4.

Might get a MK3 1.4 purely on the basis my mum uses it and prefers the MK4.

Where all my moneys went.

Golf MK3 1.6. Golf MK3 8v GTI.
