Anyone here fly?
« on: 28 November 2011, 20:38 »
Has anyone on here got a pilots licence or more?

I am just starting lessons to get mine and just wondered if anybody else has made the jump to do it?

Wanted to do it for a few years since i was bought a trial lesson but only now able to do it as its not cheap. lol.

Unfortunately I'm not allowed to ever fly solo (diabetic) so despite having to opportunity to learn at a really good rate, I never took it.

Friend of mine worked at Clacton Airfield for a couple of summers and the pilots there trained him up. He ended up getting his pilot's licence before his driving licence, worked for a while with the "Utterly Butterly Wing Walking Team" as a pilot and now (I think) flies commercial jets.

If I could do it legally, I would. And I have heard that if you can learn to fly a chopper, you're seldom out of a job!

Keeping schtum. Mostly.

I do it, it's fun but sometimes I do wonder why we pay all that money and what for.
80% of your posts are total tripe, as they are mostly replies to sh1te posts created by the morons that, unfortunately this forum attracts.

Problem i see with learning is that you have to do a minimum of 45hours before test and at £122 an hour its not cheap.

I can handle the price but you have to rack up the hours quickly otherwise you are not going to progress and learn. Thats what makes it expensive i guess but should be good to have!

As for chopper licence, i did contemplate it... Maybe something for the future.

^^ That is pretty awesome. I think once i got the licence i might get a time share in a plane local to me to be able to rack up some hours easily.

I have considerably more take offs with aircraft than landings. True story.
