Will it work??
« on: 28 November 2011, 15:41 »
Hi Gents, looking into buying a Corrado 1.8 KR, but its has a warm start issue.

Guy thinks possibly inline fuel pump as its noisy, but surely this would create issues at all temps no?

Anyway, I've read that the FPR can be a weak point on them, as well as injectors.

I have a spare fuel rail with fpr and injectors from my 2.0 8v AGG, so was wondering if this would work/fit????
If it was one of these then obviously I will save a bit on replacement parts if they fit. If not then I can reflect that in the price that I offer, should I decide to go for it.

I know the fuel pressure on the Rado is 3 bar, but couldnt find the pressure for the golf.
Also to note, the guy has changed coil, dizzy&rotor, leads, plugs, metering head, and ignition to dispell those suggestions.

Any help much appreciated.

Nope completely different set up.

Warm start issues could be a number of things, start by getting the fuel pressures checked.

Thought as much. Does it sound like a pump issue though?? Possibly an evap fault? I've emailed him asking a few more things about it, so see what he comes back with. I really really want it, but dont want to be left with a dud though. Exterior is almost mint and came 5th in show and shine at VW Jamboree in Newquay this year. Good price too!

Might be worth doing a compression test to confirm all is ok head gasket wise etc.

I'd love to get it all checked out, problem is that its a bout 1 1/2 hours away. I've asked the same q's on the corrado forum, and they don't think it would be a HG issue. They are known for weak injectors, which I would have thought is more likely than HG if it's not the fuel pump.  :undecided: torn between getting that one and looking about for others now........
