colour coded shark fin aeriel?
« on: 26 November 2011, 15:38 »
Does anyone know if its poss to get a colour coded shark fin fitted?
New gtiMK6 in candy white arriving shortly (we hope) and the only thing I'm a bit dissappointed about will be the "black blob" sitting on an unblemished sparkling white roof.
Dealer tells me its not poss to get it colour coded via factory, so can it be retro-painted? Big job? Too much trouble? Mask the whole car up and spray it?  Any specialist painters like "chips-away" worth contacting? Or should I just get used to it?.......
perhaps I'm being too petty. Any help greatly appreciated folks.
By the by; Audi, BM, Volvo, Merc all do colour coded fins, why not VW?....
1st ever GTI. awesome!.....and getting better all the time!

'scuse my ignorance; but what is the roof aeriel for? I have RNS510 and Bluetooth Premium (retrofits) but no need for a roof aeriel. Is this for DAB radio?
sssh; it's 'only a diesel'; but i love it!

It's for the gps from factory, the Bluetooth antenna is always inside the car

Dull question, but wht does it have an antenna?

I've had hard wired phone kits with an antenna, as that is physically connented to the phone, but none of the aftermarket bluetooth ones have had them.

Same here. And I've since retro fitted an RNS with the GPS aerial stuck in the dash and I've perfect signal... So I'm not sure what the point of the shark fin is??
I think the old bluetooth system that wasn't iPhone compatible had a shark fin aerial. Newer BT doesn't.

It's for use with the rSap as the car kit becomes the phone and therefore requires an antenna, you can send texts, use it as a modem and the reception is much better than a non rSap kit.

Nokia did a brilliant bluetooth kit called a 616 that used rSap and you had to fit an antenna with those, the reception was also mega
