Mk2 Rallye - G60 Bonded Windscreens
« on: 25 November 2011, 13:35 »
OK Just found this, since I have a few stone chips and have heard these screens are getting very hard to find in the UK:

http://www.technik-bedarf.de/index.php/cPath/9113_9114_9595/category/VW-JETTA-II-US---GOLF-II-G-60/XTCsid/b0d94d134262f4fa282e2cea30a75506

Good price too.

... it's turned into a fashion show for poofters.

Guys can't you just convert it to seal screen? I'm sure I've seen it done?

As it gives the shell significant extra strength I'd be looking to replace with a bonded screen if what I had had one originally.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

No doubt it does, but if you can't source one? What are you going to do, drive around with a cracked screen?
I think I saw someone saying that the sealed one from a 16V Gti can be bonded in if you wanted, after all its just more black gunk spread around the seal and screen lip? In many aspects a double seal in there could be stronger than anything else?

i would have thought the screen trim for a bonded screen would be harder to get hold of tbh.

all the VW's have gone bar 1.

It is Danny! I had to make sure they cutted out my old one in tact, then I painfully stripped it clean so they could re-attach and bond it back in place

This was the main reason I sold it to a lad who only wanted to look at it.
He knew what I sold him and I said you know parts are difficult fella to get a hold of? He replied "yeah thats why this one is a keeper!"
At that point I made him agree if he ever wanted to sell it ever, I have first refusal
It wasn't so much it cost me affortune in parts it was parts themselves the issue.
The major parts I bought for Darko came from Germany I paid Euros via the bank for them.

parts for rare obscure volkswagens are a sore subject here.
