help needed on a mk 2 golf

on tuesday , i was driving mymk 2 golf to work and stopped outside my work , when the smell of burn oil and smoke coming from the bonnet . lifted the bonnet and there was a small flames on the fuel line . i quickly put it out . the main engine was very hot and possibly burnt the fuel line . all the electics are fine and everything else is fine. but im worried about the head gasket is gone ? any help would be helpfullo.

oops, good job u put em out

i found a fire under the bonnet of my 1st mk2, well by the time i realised they were lapping outa the sides as i was driving, never pooed it so much, sadly couldnt do anythin except run away and watch her burn untill the firebrigade got to her. 

still not known what caused it?

my poor early 3dr atlas grey baragin at 200quid
