OK so do i go for 8v or 16v

IF the problem with my head gasket is more serious than i thought and the head is knackered, i may be able to get a 1.8 16v engine, but am currently on a 2.0 8v

which engine is best and why?

i wanna know mpg, reliability, speeds, torque, as much info as i can to why each engine is good please so i can make a wise informed decision

Unless you we're gonna keep it standard, I'd definitely go for 2.0ltr 16v.

Loadsa Torque and power. The best of both worlds

Unless you're looking for the cheapest version in which case a straight swap with another 2.0 ltr 8v would make sense

The 1.8 16v is a k-jetronic injection system and you are currently running a digifant. The conversion would be a nightmare and not worth the gains, that's the 1.8 16v out the window.
The 2.0 16v runs the digifant system so would be a fairly easy conversion, it runs at 150bhp.
The easiest option is to stick with the 2.0 8v, I think they are about 117bhp.

sass the other option is to get the 16v kr and put some carbs on it if you dont want the hassle of looms etc
