So, after 6 months of searching autotrader and pistonheads and several near misses, Ive bought a 14 month old 2010 GTI with 13k miles on her. Metalic black, monzas, leather, winter, lux, sunroof, xenons, rear LED's, cruise, upgraded speakers from RCD 510 (then upgraded to RNS 510 via VW cruise yesterday), bluetooth, F+R parking sensors and DSG. I had her detailed at JDG autovaleting yesterday who I can highly recommend for those of you in the NW.

Some initial observations. Ive come from a Audi A4 avant quattro to an R35 GTR (credit crunched!) to a Mk5 R32 - all 4WD and the lack of traction of the GTI on greasy roads is fun! God know how a remap will affect this. The wheels must be contantly spinning...Mega car though, more refined than the R32. The car looks mean enough to make this family man look like he hasnt given up on life and subtle enough not to look like a drug dealers b!tch wagon. V. pleased.

A banal question. How do you stop your ipod playing random/shuffle tracks when connected to the MDI. Ive made sure the source iphone has the shuffle disconnected etc and I cant find anything on the RNS to stop this. Also will the HDD only read hard drive/pendrives less than 30GB in total?

Finally, I really wanted the Dynaudio but the deal on the car was too good to leave so I made do without. On a modest budget of around 300-400 quid does anyone have ideas on stereo ugrades. I was thinking new amp front and rear connected to RNS with some speaker tweaks or upgrades. I want clarity and depth rather than spine mashing bass. Any ideas??

Hi & Welcome!!

As Doc says, a nice motor you have there.

For the shuffle, at the bottom fo the screen there are a number of touch buttons displayed.  One of them is normally called "extras" - it is this button that you can then use to select "Mix" which is the shuffle - turn it on/off from here - this might be what you need to do?

hi there

i have dynaudio and TBH its not that great. I've not heard the standard speakers but i can't say I'm blown away by the upgraded speakers

i would rather spend the money on a set of focal components or something

Hola!
Walking on two legs is better than crawling on all fours. Great choice going for a GTI.
