A quick tax/sorn question for you smarter than me folk
« on: 22 November 2011, 17:00 »
Ive sold my BMW on ebay and the guy said he'll come pick up on sunday 27th but the tax is up this month so 3 days later basically.

Do I:

1) Sorn it now to cover my back and let him know he needs another to transport it home other than driving

or 2) Sign the logbook and send it on the 28th because its out of my hands so not my problem?

Dont want to be landed with a fine seeing as though my new VR needs taxing this month too

Ta all , Leigh

Sign and date the log book for before the end of the month. Do it already, rather than back date it infront of him. If he asks why that date is there, just say you did it when you knew you sold the car.

The DVLA do not have to receive the log book yet, so don't send it until you have the money.

They won't send out any fines right away and even if they did, you'd have a chance to inform the 'fine department' or whoever, of the change of ownership, pending the log book going through their system.

No probs mate. He can do what he wants with it, tax it himself with the green slip and an insurance cover note when he gets it.

Personally if you're still insured I'd just ask the buyer if he'd like you to tax it for him. If not like Ant said fines won't happen straight away and he can tax it online as long as it's insured somewhere anyway. :)

Where all my moneys went.
