Performance panel filter

I've been told a performance panel filter will make my car sound meatier and drive better, been looking online but as i dont have a clue what i'm looking for really any advice on good ones would be great, thanks

What car is it?

There are mixed opinions on upgrading the filter but I always do, I find that the car revs more happily.

Cheapest place is ebay but make sure you get a branded one - K&N/Pipercross.

^^^^ This however paper OEM filters are better for protection and don't expect better performance from a cotton one.

Also be very careful when it comes to servicing the filter.  They need re-oiling and if over done it can mess up your MAF sensor if your car has one.

Pipercross do a dry type filter for vag group cars that avoids that problem. :smiley:

It's a mk5 golf gti, they dont seem to sell them on ebay for the gti, can i just get one for the golf as long as it covers the year of my car?
Thanks for the advice about paper ones and the MAF sensor.
Haha caistor_bmx really? I was told it would make it better? i'll look for a dry type one thanks ...... why has it all got to be so confusing!?!

just make sure you get a DRY filter not an oiled one as this will play hell with the maf :rolleyes:

Yeah its a sensor that affects how the car runs, something to do with airflow I think (it measures it). Ive never had a problem with aftermarket filters though and as already said - get a dry one and you should be fine!
