Start issues on my 1.8T advise please
« on: 21 November 2011, 21:04 »
Picked up me car last night drove great all the way home (120 miles) until the last set of traffic lights that are on a slight hill near my house i
Stalled the bloody thing wouldnt restart DOH.
The guy said when i bought it because its a turbo you have to press the throttle a few times before starting is this right (something about having a 5th injector )
I had the Bora 2.0 sport which started 1st flick of the key every morning had the usaual problems with failed maf and temp sens which i had changed.
But the new car baffles me as to why you need to pump the throttle before starting any one got any ideas also the random stall maybe new car syndrome ie clutch postion ?
although i think i must of flooded the car trying to get it to restart 5 mins later hey presto bit ruff for a few 10 seconds then all fine drove the remaining 600 yards

Guy that sold it to you is talking out his arse

Absolutely no need to press the throttle, 5th injector!! Best I've heard yet... He's sold you a duff car and making up rubbish to get you off his back..

Get it scanned, but I would start by checking all the boost pipes and vacuum pipes.

What a D1ck he is that sold you that....5th injector....bahahaha.

Try cleaning throttle body and a fault code scan fr basics.  Check piping too, but i reckon that would cause bigger issues than a hot start issue,

Pressing the throttle a few times would flood the engine wouldn't it I had the same problem when I first bought my car but engine seized so never got to find out what the cause was sorry mate

Nah it wouldnt flood it.  Its not a carberettour (sp?) engine.... Pressing the throttle wont do a thing when you have the ignition on.  ONly when you crank  the engine do the injectors squirt fuel.
