do you have to have this conneceted all the time !!!!

i was woundering do you have to have the maf thats connected to your air filter box connected all the time or can you run your car without it connected 24/7 !! what damage can it do if any !!

i wouldnt disconnect it for too long.
realisticly needs to be there otherwise why would vw put a sensor there

Is yours faulty? It will be ok to run it temporarily but as already said make sure you replace it asap :wink:

well i think its been runnng alittle slow and alittle jumpy !! but the mrs run the feul low last week so i filled her up and put some red x in it an took it to see if that sorts her out

well i think its been runnng alittle slow and alittle jumpy !! but the mrs run the feul low last week so i filled her up and put some red x in it an took it to see if that sorts her out

If the maf is not working correctly then by unplugging it you should see an improvement, try driving it for a few days with it unplugged and see if it gets better. If it does you have your problem, if it doesn't plug it back in and get it scanned with Vagcom.

If you replace your maf, make sure you get a Bosch one :wink:

An unplugged maf can also mask problems that lie elsewhere, usually intake related. Do not rely on the unplugging method to diagnose a faulty maf.

i wouldnt even run it for that long unplugged, mine was running rough so i unpluged it drove about 1 mile from macdonalds back to uni, no more rough idle ect and i know that my maf is buggard so ive plugged it back in and orderd a new one

That is what I did, 2 miles was enough to feel the difference.

You can also disconnect it, have it make no difference and it still be a faulty MAF.
