cooling issue mk3 vr6
« on: 18 November 2011, 07:53 »
Hi all i recntly got my 1993 vr6 back a few agos i swapped it for a pug 306 derv that i paid £100  for . lol any way ive got a leaky top hose that goes from my block to the heater matrix( it leaks either side of the T peice ) . I am on the case of tryinmg to source a new one. What normaly happens is when in traffic the temperature needle climbs to one above the half way mark (is this ok ). I plan to buy a van air siilicone hose kit next week. I read some where that i have to use a special coolant and distilled water when i come to re bleed the system. ?? Can any one shed any light on this for me thanks

Coolant you need is a VW one, called G12++.
You get it from the main dealer, but its not too dear.
And you should use distilled/deionised water as well, as this will stop sh!tty deposits in your engine.

Overheating on a VR could be many things.

Might be worth getting the system pressure tested to see if you have any other leaks.

Also worth checking and seeing if the aux water pump is working all ok.
