Benefits of a Traker?

Right my MKVI GTI was stolen, Looking to be paid out and im buying a golf R.
   
 Obviously im paranoid to death about being robbed now. I had my Raptor 700 Quadbike stolen about 3months ago aswell. From the same address the golf was stolen.
 I see alot of Golf R's have been taken the same way my golf was, House being broken into and keys taken. So security is on the up and to be honest ive had to accuire some nasty weapons to defend myself its gotten that bad.

 Im looking to have a trackers fitted to my cars now. However are they really good? I did a quick check on the internet and it seems theifs are just buying cheap jammers from china which block gps signal or something for like £50. Are they worth the initial outlay like £400 + subscription? Is recovery rate good?
 Or are there better ways to stop somebody taking your car, I know revo used to have a lock on their switch which turned the car off something i never knew how to use properly so it wasn't being used in my car at the time even though I had it :S
 Or something like blackjax which used to cut the power to the car like 2min down the road?
 Anyway suggestions welcome please

The pukka Trackers are supposed to be good and have a high recovery rate but it doesn't stop the car being twoc'd in the first place. Something that kills the car once it's a couple of miles away sounds like a good combo with the tracker.

To be honest though I would look at moving. If you're having to arm yourself to defend your car keys I wouldn't bother with a flash car either. Not worth going to prison for duffing some scrote who's after your car.

Seriously though I would move. If moving isn't an option I wouldn't buy a flash car, especially not a golf as they are thieve magnets.
Pull up bollard for your drive? Big dog?


Edit: Re: tracker, would you want the car back? It would classed as stolen recovered, damaging its worth forever. I don't know how good trackers are but the jammers can be had online for 20 notes.

Bollard across the end of your drive in combination with a good house alarm should do the job

Sorry to hear that, pretty awful situation to be in.

My mates has an alarm on his scooby that if you walk near the doors (3 door btw) then it will bleep away for ever until you move away. This is then linked up to a little key fob type item that vibrates and bleeps if the car is bleeping. An idea maybe?

I say let them take it, if they want it that bad they will steal it. Insurance will cover you almost every time for the value of the car right? It maybe a lot of hassle with the companies but better than trying to defend your car with with nasty tools you have gotten hold of. The kind of people who steal cars aren't exactly savoury characters...I doubt it would do you good going at them with a rusty spoon!

As above, you didnt mention in the original post if you had a house alarm, if not worth £300-£400 of anybody's money, which may put them off trying to break in to stael the keys and anything else they may like...

decent house alarm an a small safe to keep keys and other stuff in should make there life harder

Whenever this comes up the general consensus is to leave your keys downstairs where they can be easily found, if the thieves want your car that bad they wont think twice about waking you up and asking nicely threatening you with a knife for them.
