Mk2 Golf 8v Gti Flooding!!
« on: 16 November 2011, 18:04 »
Hello

i have a mk2 golf gti 8v 1992
its been running fine since i bought it almost a year ago (give or take a few tantrums) but besides that its treated me well.
the other night my rev counter just stopped, so i read up on the forums that a wire on the ignition coil controls the revs.
checked it all over aswel as fuse 21 but this did not solve the problem.
it still started fine but its not decided not to start at all!!
i have taken the plugs out and changed them and found that its flooding really badly, the spark is strong on all 4 plugs and it turns over like normal but as soon as you try to start it the petrol smell hits you straight away.

can anybody shed some light on this problem???

coolant temperature sensor most likely.
You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.
