ABF throttle body position sensor ?
« on: 15 November 2011, 20:42 »
Just wondering if these are common for packing up ? My car recently has been staying on the revs while changing gear and also idles at 900rpm is that normal? could this be my problem ? It runs sweet enough though producing good mpg etc however i think the clutch is on its way out as its snatching right at the top of the clutch travel  Any other things that can affect the revs staying up for a second or so before changing gear ? cheers

Mike

Mine idles at 850,clutch bites at the top also but has allways been like this , never slips. revs dont drop instantly either ,i wouldnt worry about it

Sounds the same then inless we both have a problem lol that sounds right i meant 850 rpm  only thing is though lately when giving it some throttle it dosn't always want to go ( like its pulling back) but if i let off the accelerator quickly and then plant it it comes to life and just goes thats abit weird as it never done that before  Also i think it could need new stem seals possibly as its quite tappy on first start up and continues to tap very quietly Also a very minor oil usage like 2ml over a month so perhaps a head overhaul is in order! probably just age related i guess 117k now fsh though  cheers for reply

Well mine went abit like that about a month ago ,changed relay 30 and is good as gold again, sounds like your tappets or cams are abit worn but 117K is relativly low milage ,every motor uses a bit of oil if driven hard  mines on 165K and running better than ever and it does get driven hard but i also look after it well with quality oils and parts.

I must admit it does get drove hard but only when oils upto temp 87+ its just been serviced using correct parts i know its running spot on as it ran 154.7bhp at carbons rolling road day in oct so i'm sure its either relays or some other electrical gremlin  performance feels a bit low at the mo and i get a slight grind when cold into second not even a grind really just a slight notch at the end of travel  Really hoping this isn't the sign of gearbox failing as its very snatchy when changing into any gear but this could be engine mounting maybe. I think after xmas its going to get a clutch and a head inspection for piece of mind may as well while its parked up  I know the mileage is quite low thats why i bought it originally it had 113k when i got it nearly 9 months ago with fsh another key buying factor. It's been a great car no troubles other than a dead battery last month but thats nothing major my plan was to park it up in dec for a supercharger fitment ready for next summer  But it may just end up with some standard engine work now  cheers i will get a new relay friday also

mines just started to do this to! If you drive it pretty hard in first the revs take a while to drop back down. Strange. Where can you get the number 30 relay?
