True...but you should still use a 4 wheel alignment set-up to make sure you have the fronts and rears in line.

Not sure around Leeds (but would like to know!) - There is a place in Rochdale, just over the pennines called PanelCare.
Not the cheapest but got mine spot on :)

oh and thanks for letting me know about the back adam

just one thought tho

the point of wheel alignment is so that the front wheels are in line with the back thats what i ment by 4 wheel with camber ie...

set toe, camber on front and align it all

Yes correct but 4 wheel alignment usually implies tweaking the geometry at the back i.e Rear camber, Rear Toe none you can do on a MK1, MK2, MK3 or MK4. Yes measure thrust angle in perspective with the fronts and rears. You adjust it to compensate any discrepancies in the steering wheel itself being off angle or the rear axle is miss aligned. You do all this at the front using the tie rods.

Type string method wheel alignment into google. Massive thread on cgti about it too, very easy to do, and very accurate. It's what most of the pro/ semi pro race outfits use in one form or another to quickly set their cars when adjustments have been made/ post accidents etc
