Really glad to hear that you are ok. We all take pride in our cars but at the end of the day they are here to protect us on the road.

Absolutely. Even a half star is the difference between life and death.

You are right 'The Doc' safety can be overlooked when buying a car but I think I will always feel safe in a Golf now - well - as safe as you can be   5* it has to be from now on!

Thanks everyone for your good wishes.

Ann:

Make sure the police check for any calls or texts sent at the time of the accident from the other party's mobile provider records. They can tend to miss things sometimes as they are only human and nowadays are under considerable pressure.

BTW, what make was the other car and was it also a write off?

Upsetting times for you but thankfully you are not seriously injured but injured you were. Serious enough IMO.

Hope it all works out satisfactorily for you. All the best.

Asker

PS: I have had 4 write-offs and amazingly none my fault.

Good to hear you are OK (relatively speaking) and that the car did the job it was designed to.

Hope the insurance companies do the right thing and you can get another one of equal spec. etc.

Glad you're ok. 40 mph straight into a car is the NCAP test condition so you can officially call yourself test crash dummy :)
Speaking from experience - don't let them repair it. But it depends on your insurance company and the GAP cover (always recommended!)
Golf GTI VI DSG - died on the road, resurrected, came back as zombi, sold
R - rising blue, 5-door, DSG, ACC, something something...
