 ive got a mk4 tdi 110 asv code that wont run.it turns over ok,its getting fuel but just refuses to run.if i squirt cold start/easy start down the air filter it fires but then cuts out shortly after. its nothing electrical as i had it read from a vag com earlier and all codes were cleared.only thing it said was about needing a new coolant sensor.no other fault codes were thrown up.its been timed up correctly.so....its somethign mechanical.im going to compression test it,but will this throw up any results that could give me clue to what it is?say if crank shells/bearings were dead it would read lower compression?

EDIT.
you will have to take the rocker cover off and then unplug a fuel injector at a time then crank over and when the car starts, the injector thats unplugged is at fault.

its a non pd engine fella,the injectors are driven by a high poressure pump rather thanthe camshaft.would a single faulty injector cause the engine to not run?

im not an expert, but there was a 2.0TDI passat that just would not start i know it was a pd engine. but he had same prob. and they took the rocker cover off unplugged 1 injector and then turned her over and carried on till we found the faulty injector. as when you disconnect the faulty injector the car will start but run like sheet.

and another thing, we used that spray that you spray into the airbox and it did start and run untill we stopped spraying it.

sorted it!rns out fuel timing was to far round so it was delivering fuel late. thanks for all ur ideas people twas appreciated
