I've got that bolt out, but now I've snapped one of the rear mounts bolts, is that a problem or if I get the others out ok will it like lift out as there is no nut on the bolt?

it may do depends how well corroded in there it is,  if it won't just undo the 4 bolts holding the rear mount arm to the engine block,

then undo the 2 bolts that hold the mount to the subframe then deal with it on the bench at a later date
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

Could do with a quick answer, want the engine out today! It's very wobbly, I think all those 3 bolts on the rear mount snapped  :undecided: I undo the big 17mm centre bolt that goes through the mount, but I cannot get the engine out. It is seperated from the gearbox, does the driveshaft have to come right out of the gearbox. I've split the flange, but this looks like the reason why the engine isn't coming out.

Better off disconnecting drive shafts at gb end, and leaving the box attached to the lump when pulling it out. Creates more hassle than it's worth taking the box off first

I am the bigger that that donut in the simpsons. I'm only taking the block out, so didnt even need to remove the driveshaft!!! Notice when the engine was out looking at the driveshaft thinking it's fing connected to the gearbox! £50 wasted on tools and now need new bolts and gasket for it

To make it worse it fell apart and getting it back together with all that slime didnt help

It was a steep learning curve!

Where would I get the driveshaft bolts from ? Today.
