Buzzy engine noise
« on: 07 November 2011, 09:40 »
My petrol gti has a not entirely unpleasant buzzy noise under the bonnet when under load and accelerating. It maybe a air intake noise that's supposed to be there or a heat shield noise that's not.

Do they all do this if so no problem if not I'll get it lpoked at.

Thanks
I don't believe in global warming, sorry.

it's normal on most of them...both my mk 6 GTIs had it. There seems to be a fix from VW. See thread below

Sweat, it's funny it does sound a little like its induction noise and I don't mind it really but it wasn't there when we picked it up.

mine has just clicked over 1000 miles today

i noticed the gti engine sounds a little rough and almost diesel like on cold start up but to drive the engine is smooth and really easy all thru the rev range

i think its just a trait of these engines TBH and not anything to worry about. I'm not worrying about mine anyway. i actually like the rough edge to the engines sound.

GTD has that rough edge sound as well when it's cold and it gets smoother after it gets warmed up. Seems normal for the newer turbo engines. My mothers Cooper S is the same. :)
