reliability

Hello guys and gals.Im new to this forum.Any way.I have had and still have my Golf GTI MK2 from UK 1990 8v.Totally standard apart from an autotech cam.

It has served me very well in my daily use and much use,say about 7000km's a month.Total mileage it has covered is now alreaddy 440000 kms.Gearbox replaced as it shot a hole through the bellhouse.

Its still fun and reliable and body is still nice and not rusty. The header reliability is because of all the junks stories I have heard/read from the review columns.Golfs and GTI , Passat and Jetta's included ,the new versions starting from MK4 has been pretty bad.

Many failures in the ignition component and build quality. Now the time has come again and its in the limelight.Simply superb the MK5 GTI is.Its already in my country as well.(Malaysia).Now are the first few batches coming in and hopefully they stand tough in a hot enviroment.Extreme humidity may cause electronic parts to malfunction.

Any experience in this part of the discussion. Please let me know or email me at the same nick at yahoo.com

Take care guys.

Welcome to the forum.  Best place for some comments on the mk5 is to put a thread up in the mk5 board as not everyone will look in here.
......now officially dubless.

Remember that you're on a mainly british forum and the likelyhood of any of our cars having problems in extreme heat is very unlikely.

There is a guy with a mk5 on here from egypt i thinkand so he may be able to help you if you post on the mk5 section
