Carbon Tuned Mk6 GTI - With Dyno Plots!
« on: 03 November 2011, 23:25 »
So today i've been over to Manchester to see Craig and Nick at Carbon for a stage 1 remap on my standard but flaccid Mk6 GTI.

The before numbers were as follows - 218Bhp @ approx 6000 and 230ftlb @ 3000.

After a few seemingly effortless runs later we ended up with 242Bhp @ 5000 through to about 6000 and a thudding 280ftlbs @ 4500.

Not an enourmous peak power number is what i guess you gonna think but by god the area under the graph tells the story. Its hugely faster and pickup/mid range/roll on performance/whatever you want to call it is in a completely different league.

The car is much more fun to drive, especially with 95% shot bridgestones which Craig was suggesting were made of teflon at the best of times. He's right they've been useless from new but its makes the car drive like a 147GTA which is no bad thing! I suspect a more measured approach will be better when i swap them but as of now the T/C light blinks in 4th

It really is a big improvement and as everybody suggests its how they should be from new.

Big thanks to Craig and Nick who really know their stuff, and who tuned the car to be useable and smooth through the power band without chasing BS top end numbers. Big respect guys.

Anyway enough jibber jabber here's the plot.

Thanks for that, it was great meet you and thanks for throwing the graph up here, Ill have to post up the photo we took of the weather station prior to mapping before Adam shouts up about the BP ()

You can tell crazy Nick did the pre runs as the graph hits the limiter standard, those that know me will know know I always back off early.....

Teflon ditch finders - nice
