mk2 will be fine on E10     at worst when the % get a bit hight you may need the budget mod of upping the fuel pressure a bit or a new eeprom
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

this country and it goverment are really starting to boil my p!ss!
why dont the world leaders hit the countries thats have billions of cars and cause far more polution than the uk,
the goverment will prices us out with fuel prices so we all buy sh!ty nissan leafs!
well they will only shoot themselves in the foot when people cant afford to run cars so that means
no money from road taxes,
no money to insurance companies
no money to dealers/garages for maintenance and buying cars
and so on.
f**k em for all i care

Thank god the mk2 will still be able to run off it!

Would this be more to do with the decline of oil and finding other sources of fuel for when it all runs out?

Volkswagen:
With few exceptions, E10 is cleared for use in all Volkswagen passenger cars with petrol engines. The exceptions are the following models with the first generation of FSI engines:
   Lupo 1,4 (77 kW) made from August 2000 to November 2003 (model year 2001 - 2004);

Please excuse my ignorance but my gf has the above car. So the mk2 will be fine on E10 but the newer Lupo won't be?  :undecided:

You'll have to run the Lupo on Super when standard unleaded becomes E10. After 2013 when all petrol is E10 you'll have to use additives.

Thanks Nick, I get that, I just wondered why the archaic mk2 will be ok and the newer technology of the Lupo fails? Sodding government

mk2 engine is elativly low tech,  as long as the injectors squirt something in that goes bang when ignited by a spark after been squeezed it'll run on it.

you may have to twerk the fueling up as you need slightly more ethanol than petrol but on a mk2 you can do that by tweeking the fpr.
on a more modern car that uses closed loop lambda lots and quite a few vw's have widebands on the std ecu they are constantly fine tuneing to run on theer target AFR's these AFR's are set for petrol not petrol ethanol mix so the ecu will fue; trim to one extreem then sh!t itself and compain before engageing lame mode or just genraly running awfull.

can be fixxed with some ecu tweeks on most cars tho

all the VW's have gone bar 1.

I always run the mk2 on optimax so not to worried untill they change that but slightly more concerned about the mk3 as I run this on normal unleaded,I guess I'll had to run that on optimax now aswell!

The problem with it is the Ethenol rots fuel compenents and causes corrosion of metal fuel tanks etc.

Although you can wind the ignition more advanced for more power it has a lower calorific content so you need more if it. Therefore your MPG will drop.
