what do you have to do if you take the back seats and seat belts out with regards to m.o.t'ing the car ?? do you have to register it as a 2 seater otherwise i would have thought that it wouldnt pass an m.o.t with not being able to check the back seats/ belts??? i have taken them out and it looks like this!!!

As far as i remember, the rear belts only have to work properly. if they're not there they can't be tested. may be wrong . :undecided:

as long as the rest of the cars ok  , but yeah, no seatbelts to test = no seatbelts to fail on.

Are you sure guys. I got failed a few years back cos i had no belts in the rear. Had to go out and buy a set. Saying that im sure all mot stations have their own rules different to everyone else. Ive found it just depends on where you take it. I once had a guy trying to fail me cos the stainless exhaust was loud!

If you have no seats, whats the point in having the belts. If you have seats, you must have belts. (if the car was made after a certain time).

If your exhaust is over a certain db, then it will fail, as there are also sound emissions, aswell as exhaust, but again that is down to the particular testers hearing, not a db monitor.

yep lewy is bang on target  my brother is an mot tester and he tells me all the stupid holes in the testing guide lines.

if theres no seat and there is no belt what can they test?

Its all pretty stupid as an mot is only valid until the vehicle leaves the test ramp.............

there is a taxi driver who takes his car to the test center on ileagal plates. parks his car out side the garage doors. swaps his plates for legal ones and then when he has his test ticket swaps them back in the carpark. And he has a brand new test ticket in his pocket! a bit stoopid me thinks

aye up me duck!

If i remember correctly all cars made after a certain date had to have rear belts fitted.  Cant remember the year though!!  Quite right to say if theres no seats or belts then they cant test of fail them!!
