BSR remap experience

I have been considering a remap for some time and my main choices were ABT and Oettinger. Revo was due to practical issues not an option for me. BSR came to my attention just recently due to a swedish friend of mine recommending it. ABT seemed to give the highest numbers with Oettinger following just behind and BSR to be the most conservative.

After doing some research and looking at the BSR website. I was surprised that a BSR dealer was stupidly close. At this point it was irresistible so off I went.

1000 euros poorer, I could tell the car was remapped instantly after driving off. I could also easily feel the extra boost. It's definitely noticeable and you have to be aware of the extra boost that comes rushing in between 1400-2000rpm. During daily driving you're often between 1500-2500 rpm and I do have to be lighter and smoother on the pedal due to that or I'll be wheel spinning easily. I'm already on my winter wheel set so the grip I get on asphalt is sh!te compared to my summer set.

To sum it up it's just like the standard map with some extra grunt. The acceleration is just as smooth all the way from 2krpm and upwards. The handheld device you get is quite nice as well with features like reading and clearing diagnostics in addition to being able to revert back to the original map. So far I'm happy with the remap.

Hopefully the Milltek 3" race exhaust will arrive next week together with H&R suspension. I'm wondering how this combination will work with the BSR remap but I'm guessing it'll be awesome accompanied with the Milltek sound.  :laugh: Pics with have to wait till then. :)

Nice short write up. Glad to hear you are enjoying the map. This GTI was my first venture into the world of remapping and when I had my own car remapped, I was amazed at the difference that it made.

I think you have been quite sensible in not chasing after the highest quoted figures. On one hand it means that there is less chance that the map will adversely affect your car (as you're not squeezing every last horsepower out of it). Secondly, it is also likely that the more conservative map actually has a greater average gain throughout the rev-range (although losing some at peak revs) so you may in fact find that you're car (whilst quoting lower power outputs) is just as fast if not faster in the real world. 

But anyway, I digress... all the best with the map and many happy miles of enjoying it.  :smiley:

I have the BSR steg 2 (step 2) on my GTI-10.
Step 2 is remap and BSR Sport Flow cat-back.
Really nice performance and a deeper (not disturbing) sound from the exhaust.
I am very satisfied with the BSR remap.
